Also, I added Disqus comments to the Chirault website! Eventually if they are used enough I’ll do away with the shoutbox (or maybe move it into another page, like Contact, for nostalgia purposes). In the meantime, comment at will! Help me find and eradicate any remaining bugs! :D
Hey guys, my comic collective is now accepting applications! Spider Forest is a friendly group of fellow webcomic artists and writers. We’ve got a neat forum (and Skype chat now!) dedicated to helping each other out with conventions, critiques, and general encouragement and promotion. I’ve been a member for the last two years, and I love it!
If you’ve got a self-hosted webcomic that you think would be a good fit, you can apply right here!
I just realized I never put the final of this up on here! It’s the first page of the redrawn Chirault prologue. Those first seven pages were the first I did, using Micron pens to ink, and… they’re actually some of the first comic pages I had done, period. I’ve learned so much since then! I figured that since those seven were already outliers from the rest of the early comic, technique-wise, I might as well just completely overhaul them and make them look better for printing.
I’ve been posting my progress on these to the Chirault Patreon, along with the advance pages and miscellaneous other previews. (I’ve been trying to really buckle down on getting the early pages ready for print, too). Eventually, once it’s all ready (probably after the pages have been submitted to a printer), I’ll probably replace all of the early pages on the website with the retouched ones.
Paintings from this weekend! The photographs don’t do them justice (I wish I owned the camera that was used to take the photos from the Almaguin Highlands :C), but I was quite happy with the painting on top! The water changed repeatedly as I painted, going from mirror-smoothness in the lee of the rocky point I was painting, to striated with ribbons of foam, to just being generally chopped up and banded with waves. The wind kept trying to turn my canvas into a sail.
The rest of the paintings from the series are here.
I am a Canadian comic artist and animator! I post a lot of art, mostly original stuff of my own characters but the odd bit of fanart too. By day I work at a tv animation studio in Toronto, by night I make comics. I have a Deviantart account here, and my webcomic is called Chirault.
